SENIOR DOGS AT POODLE and POOCH RESCUE FETCH GRANT
DeLand, FL – Old dogs have something to wag about this summer, as The Grey Muzzle Organization announces the recipients of its annual grants, and dogs at Poodle and Pooch Rescue of Florida are among the winners.
Poodle and Pooch Rescue in Central Florida is one of 62 animal welfare groups chosen from 240 applicants to receive a grant to help local senior dogs. The groups received a total of nearly $419,000 in grants to help save or improve the lives of at-risk old dogs in communities nationwide.
This grant will allow PPR to expand the “Saving Seniors” program by taking more senior dogs into the rescue and giving them the required medical care to best prepare them for adoption. The GMO grant will help dogs like 9-year-old Rose. Left to fend for herself after her owner passed away, Rose found herself headed to animal control, knowing her adoption chances weren’t good since she was a senior girl. PPR stepped up and took Rose in, gave her the medical attention she needed, and now she’s enjoying her time in a foster home while she searches for a loving forever home.
In the past 11 years, the national nonprofit Grey Muzzle Organization has provided almost $2 million in grants to support its vision of “a world where no old dog dies alone and afraid.”
“Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we’re delighted to help deserving organizations like Poodle and Pooch Rescue make a difference in the lives of dogs and people in their communities,” Grey Muzzle’s Executive Director Lisa Lunghofer said. “Many senior dogs in the Central Florida area are enjoying their golden years in loving homes thanks to the wonderful work of Poodle and Pooch Rescue”. Poodle and Pooch Rescue of Florida rescues dogs in need, with a focus on senior and special needs dogs. Visit www.PPRFL.org to learn more.
