I'm a mixed breed puppy and my owner doesn't want me anymore. I need all my vetting-- everything. If I can get the veterinary care I need then into the right home this time, I'll have at least a dozen years of fun ahead of me. Will you help me get off the path I was on and onto the right one? ....... Thank you Camelia! I'm safe and on my way to a brand new life!!!
This is embarrassing. I'm not supposed to look this bad but my owner was a nitwit. Obviously I wasn't cared for at all, then she dumped me here at animal control. These folks are trying to help me and have reached out to PPR on my behalf. Will you sponsor me?............ Thank you Naomi! PPR is sending a volunteer to come get me! I can't wait to see what I look like underneath these matts. Naomi is my angel!
I'm a Fox Terrier with heartworms. I've been at animal control for 3 weeks and my time is up. Heartworms is easily fixed and I'm young so if I can get the care I need, I'll be perfectly healthy. I need a sponsor fast-- will you help?....... Thank you Camelia! I am on my way to a PPR vet now! Just in time!
I'm a little mix at animal control. I'm very afraid when I'm in my cage. But when I'm not in the cage I'm very sweet and loving. I'm just scared, that's all. Will you sponsor me? .........Thank you Charles!! I'm packing my bags and getting out of animal control today! They sure are nice here, but my cage and the other dogs terrify me. I can't wait to get into a quiet PPR foster home!!
I'm a sweet mixed breed girl who just needs a fresh start. There's nothing special about me. I'm not a pure-bred, I don't do special tricks and I'm not a puppy. But PPR thinks I'm worth saving and they will help me with a little help from you. Please sponsor me............Thank you Miss Camelia. I promise I'm going to be a good girl and I will enjoy every moment of my new life! Thank you for saving me!
I'm just another homeless mom. My owner obviously didn't care for me so I had puppies. Then I was dumped at animal control. My puppies are high-risk so PPR needs the help of two sponsors. Will you be one of our sponsors? Thank you Camelia! I'm going to be ok now and my pups have a good chance. PPR vets will do everything they can to make them well. Thank you both for caring about my family!
I'm a Maltese at animal control. I have skin issues which might be why I ended up here. Sometimes owners dump us instead of getting us the veterinary help we need. Will you sponsor me so I can receive the care I need and become part of a family that cares about me this time.........Thank you Lisa! I'm saved and getting out today!!!
I'm a mommy dog with three pups (there's a third one that isn't in this photo). We're at animal control and we need two sponsors to help save us. Will you sponsor my family? ........ Thank you Nicole and Evelyn!! We are safe in a PPR foster home and will receive the veterinary care we need!!
I'm a good little boy. I'm matted and loaded with fleas, probably worms too. I've had no vetting and need the works. I want to be one of the lucky PPR dogs I've heard about. I hear they get all the medical care they need, then a family to care for them until the recover, then a forever family. That sounds like just what I need! Will you sponsor me?.........I'm safe! Scot and Pamela saved me! My new life is about to begin!
We rescue dogs from Death Row at animal control and from uncaring owners headed to animal control to dump their dogs. The owner-surrendered dogs are subject to immediate euthanization at animal control, as there is no required "hold" time. Most of these dogs have been neglected, all need veterinary care, grooming and love. We are their safety net. their last option. The dogs above and others are at risk. Please help us save one with a $70 donation using the paypal button above. We'll use your donation to pay the initial veterinary bill, grooming fee and animal control fee. Tell us which dog you want to save or we'll select the one who needs you the most. We'll receive your donation immediately and will save a dog waiting for help. Your dog's "last" day, will became the first day of his new life! He will be cared for, loved, receive veterinary care and a forever family. We'll send you updates and photos of your dog and a photo of his happy ending with his forever family. You'll watch your dog go from hopeless to cherished!
On their way to a new life (some of our most recent saves--before and after photos)
Maya had lousy skin and lousy owners. She needed a new start which Lisa made possible by sponsoring her. Maya went first to our groomer to shave off her matts and wash away the filth. She felt better immediately! She then received the veterinary care her owners didn't want to give her, but she desperately needed to cure her skin infection and her ear infection. Maya is going to be feeling good in on time thanks to Lisa and her foster parents Andres and Andrea!
Leo just needed someone to help him through a tough time. He hadn't been cared for but that could be undone in few weeks! Scot and Pamela sponsored him and his life turned rightside up! His foster parents, Michelle and Bill, were first-timers and they lucked out because Leo is a gem. This boy slept for 2 days then his personality started to emerge. He is a doll!
Benson was a beautiful boy at animal control! He was matted, but still gorgeous. But he wasn't adopted, so he needed us. Nancy sponsored him and we sent a PPR volunteer to pick him up on his last day. He went straight to the vet because he was sick. Benson had an upper respiratory infection that needed treatment before it became pneumonia. We started him on antibiotics. He was too sick to vaccinate so he went to foster mom Deb's home where he could recover. When he's feeling better we'll vaccinate and neuter him, then he'll be ready for a home!
Lolly was a matted mess! It was obvious when she came into our care that someone tried to cut out her matts. Someone tried to help her. But she needed a professional grooming as her matts were very close to her skin. Camelia sponsored Lolly and we got her straight to our groomer, then to the vet for her exams, vaccines, fecal, HW test and spay! Lolly needed the works. Lucky for Lolly, Sharon a PPR foster mom is caring for Lolly where she is recovering and loved!
Miles came to us missing most of his hair. He also had a yukky mouth-- he needed a couple teeth extracted! But he was oh so sweet!! Animal control wanted this boy saved!! Camelia sponsored him, Deb a PPR volunteer picked him up, the PPR vets made him well and Maria is caring for him! This is one lucky boy who had nobody and now he has the PPR team on his side!
Pluto was found as a stray. We found his owner who said they didn't want him anymore. Lucky for Pluto, Nancy cared about him and sponsored him. Pluto loves to play and now he's playing merrily with Tomi, his foster mom. Pluto deserved better than his previous owners and now he's living the life he deserves!
Artie came to us from animal control, thanks to his sponsor Camelia. He was a sweet, happy boy, with no idea how close he came to seeing his last day. Wallie was a mess. But he knew that underneath those stinky matts was a beautiful boy waiting to emerge! Veronica sponsored this sweet boy and Michelle drove across town to get him out! Wallie went straight to the groomer, then the vet for his exam and neuter. Now has a brand new life to look forward to
Mango was at animal control and a "last call" rescue request went out for her. She had multiple fractures in both back legs and her pelvis. She was to be euthanized in just hours so we agreed to take her. Camelia sponsored her and now she's a PPR dog. This is the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. She has seen our orthopedic vet and we'll do whatever we have to for her. She is going to be just fine with a lot of care from Nina and Nini, the foster mom and daughter team!
Lexi came to us in pain. Her back legs seemed to hurt and she had a UTI. Our vet immediately diagnosed her as being full of bladderstones. The pain we thought was in her legs, was actually in her bladder. Kaye sponsored this little one and Julie committed to foster her. Lexi is going to be just fine and feeling great soon!
Patsy came to us from animal control and delivered a pup during the transport. Unfortunately her pup didn't survive, but she is thriving. We had to take her to the ER vet when she arrived, but since then she has been going gangbusters. Thank you Patricia for sponsoring this sweet girl who was skinny and stinky but is now gorgeous and glowing!
King is feeling great. We have x-rayed him and done bloodwork and a urinalysis to determine the cause of his bloody urine. He has kidney stones, which is likely an incidental finding but may be causing the severe urinary or bladder infection he has. He will be with us for a while so we can figure out his issue His appetite is amazing and he is happy and playful. He loves his foster mom Sherry and Ruth who sponsored him!!
Oscar was listed as a 14 year old Dachshund at animal control. But he didn't know his age! He acts like a much younger dog. He loves to walk and be loved. He can see and hear and has a great appetite. His teeth are lousy and he's bald but that's no reason to be euthanized. He's a happy, proud boy who thinks he's gorgeous!! His foster mom Janette loves him and we all thank Patricia for sponsoring hime!
Cooper is missing the hair on his back and his tail, has horrible teeth and two back legs that don't work. He's a mess. He struggles to walk, but is the happiest dog around. His legs hurt from bad knees and torn ACL's. We will fix them. The surgery is very successful. When we get him out of pain by fixing his legs, he's going to be so happy! He has so much to look forward to!
Charlie and Josie, mommy and daughter Shih Tzu's were given up because their owners were moving. After a groom and clearing up Charlie's eye infection, they were gorgeous. Linda sponsored these two beauties so now we'll find them a home where they can live the rest of their lives together.

Sparky was a terrier mix that came to us a mess. Due to lack of proper grooming he was matted with an eye infection in both eyes. We had to shave his head so he looks kind of funny, but because Jeffrey sponsored him, he's clean, happy and ready for a home!
Brigette still has a long way to go, but in just 10 days she has made incredible progress. She was dirty and depressed and now she's beautiful, energetic and loves to run. We still need to clean her teeth and remove her mammary tumors, but for now we are getting her healthy so she will do well in surgery. Brigette's foster mom says she can stay as long as she needs to because she is such a delight. Brigette is a brand new dog with a great life ahead of her! Thank you Kimberly for being her sponsor.
Hannah didn't have much going for her. She had already had pups once and was living in a back yard. Kimberly sponsored 2 dogs for the holidays and now Hannah is safe with her foster mom Linda. We got Hannah all the vetting she needed and now she is ready for a home. This sweet little girl could have a new family by the new year!
Oakley came from animal control, dirty but happy! She is a courageous little girl who kept her faith in people, despite how she had been treated. This little girl is now a beautiful pampered pooch with Linda as her foster mom. Thank you Camelia for sponsoring her as she's about to get the life she deserves!
Janey is a sweetheart now that she doesn't have to be afraid anymore. Barbara sponsored her, we got her out of animal control and our groomers turned her into a gorgeous gal. She was so matted and afraid and now she prances so proud!
Chance was huddled in a corner at animal control, unable to walk. His pelvis was crushed. Nobody wanted him because this was a bad injury that would be expensive to fix and require months of recovery. Nina, a PPR volunteer went to meet him and just couldn't walk away like so many others had. Thanks to all our PPR donors, Chance is recovering from pelvic surgery. He's walking way ahead of schedule and will be running soon!
Shea is now a beautiful girl. She came to us in not such good shape. Her eye hurt due to a cherry eye and she was not feeling good from kennel cough and being so dirty. Her kennel cough is clear and our veterinarians did surgery on her eye to fix it. She is clean and ready for a home! Thank you Camelia for sponsoring her and Ann for being a first-time foster mom!
Sheba was a disaster. She had lost all hope. Now she's feeling so much better! JoAnne groomed her and she started feeling better immediately! Thank you Camelia for sponsoring her!
Jayda was a flea infested, rust colored, smelly, matted girl. JoAnne groomed her and transformed her into the sweetest, cutest, whitest Maltipoo!! This little girl's personality was transformed as well. JoAnne performs little miracles on these dogs. Just a few hours in her care and they emerge different dogs, with confidence and hope! Thank you JoAnne for all you do for our dogs and thank you Camelia for saving this one!!
Dharma was adopted from animal control, then returned to animal control because she was too affectionate. She had only one eye which was infected and had an ulcer and a cataract. We treated her eye which cured the infection and healed the ulcer. We then ahad her evaluated for cataract surgery, but luckily the cataract is so minor she doesn't need surgery! Thank you to all who helped us afford her care!
Samuel and Adam were a disaster. They needed the works! First our groomers had to shave them. Both have skin infections due to matts and filth. They had medicated baths and our vets started them on antibiotics. We want to give them a few days to settle, then we'll do their neuter and dental. In a couple weeks their hair will start to grow in and they will be even more beautiful. Thank you Jacqueline for sponsoring them and Christine for opening her home to both of them until they find their forever home!

Charlie is enjoying his time with Andrea his foster mom who loves this sweet boy. Thank you Patricia for sponsoring Charlie who's going to be a healthy boy in no time!

She will have cherry eye surgery on both eyes as soon as her infection is gone!

Milo was severely neglected. His back was bald and full of sores. Animal control looked for the owner to press charges but they couldn't find them. It took a couple months but Sonia kept up with the medicated baths and oral medications until finally he became a gorgeous Shih Tzu. Despite how he was treated by his prior owner, Milo loves all people and gives tons of kisses!
Goldie was found vision impaired, trying to cross a busy street. She was rescued by a kind lady named Stacey. Goldie was horribly neglected. The abuse this little girl suffered was sickening. The open sores on her back, the thickened skin came from years of mange and neglect. She has just started her medicated baths and her mange mites are gone. Amy, her foster mom will continue to care for her until she is ready for a home, no matter how long it takes her to heal.
Stewie was living in a sewer pipe. He was rescued by a Police Officer and taken to animal control. He had long stinky matts and couldn't even see. Animal control cleaned him up beautifully! Missy is safe now. Because she is middle aged, she wasn't adopted or rescued from animal control. Evelyn sponsored her, we rescued her and now she is gorgeous and waiting for the family that won't be able to resist her! Last week, nobody cared about this little girl. This week she'll have folks applying for the privilege of meeting her!
Happyjack was turned into animal control by his owner who also gave him this horrible hair cut, ensuring he wouldn't be adopted from animal control. Lisa saved him with her sponsorship and now he's looking dapper with his new clean cropped hair do. He's a perfect dog, we are so happy we could help him.
Cannoli came to us at 3 lbs. He hadn't eaten for 5 days while at animal control. He has multiple health issues that we are working on and he improves every day. He's put on 1.5 lbs and has started playing and kissing. Here he is watching TV with his foster sister, whom he has grown very attached to! Thank you Camelia for sponsoring him.

Georgia's owner died. Melissa sponsored her, which allowed us to save her before she went to animal control. Lucy is wagging and enjoying her foster home. She is so happy and loves the other dogs in her foster mom's home. Lucy appears to be very healthy except for her broken front leg. It's a very old break so it's unlikely our vets can fix it, but we'll see. Princess will have her teeth cleaned in a few days then she'll be ready for a home!!
Rudy wasn't adopted or rescued from animal control because he has heartworms. Susan sponsored him and now he's safe with his foster mom Linda. Rudy has kennel cough so we are treating him for that now. After he has recovered we'll treat him for heartworms and will cure him. Rudy's teeth need to be cleaned too so when he's done recovered from his heartworm treatment, our vet will clean his teeth. Rudy will be a new dog soon!!
Miley was supposed to be a boy! We were told she was a "he", but surprise, it's a girl!! Her sponsor Sandi was very surprised when she sponsored a boy, but her email update said she saved a girl! Our biggest challenge with Miley is that she is terrified. We will work with her to bring her out of her shell. She acts as if she's spent her life in a crate. She'll be fine and is making progress already.
Nahla is awesome. Animal control asked if we would save her because her time was up. Leigh sponsored her which allowed us to say "Yes". She's now safe with her foster mom who is fattening her up because she was just too darn skinny when we got her! She also came to us with a urinary tract infection which we are treating her for now. After she's recovered, we'll spay her and find her a great home!
Gretchen is safe. She wasn't adopted or rescued from animal control because her leg appeared to be broken and who wants a dog with a broken leg! Well, lucky for Gretchen we do and saved her because Susan sponsored her. Our vets xrayed her and found she has a fractured tibia. This injury will heal on it's own, but we have to keep her from being too active. Sounds easy-- but it's actually quite a chore for her foster mom as Gretchen feels good!
Simon is safe!! Sandy sponsored him and we had him in our arms the next day. Simon is one of those wonderful dogs that is, well, WONDERFUL. He still needs to be groomed, but is in very good shape. Somebody is going to be very luck to adopt this boy. Sandy, thank you for saving him so he can live a long happy life now!!
Bugsy is a terrified little terrier. He is an older boy who is safe with Linda, his foster mom. Linda is taking it slow with Bugsy and today he let her pet him!! Soon he will come out of his shell and before long he will be on her lap, begging for hugs and kisses. Thank you Maria and Richard for sponsoring Bugsy!
Cinnamon has a very large mammary tumor. She was also very skinny when we got her out of animal control. She is resting with her foster mom and when our vets tell us she is ready she will have her surgery which will remove her tumor and spay her. Cinnamon's bloodwork and xrays came back perfect so we know she is going to be just fine! Thank you Scot and Pamela for sponsoring her!
Bentley wasn't adopted from animal control because of his cherry eye. We are going to fix his eye and make him beautiful. He'll have his surgery after we fatten him up a bit then he'll be ready for a home!! Thank you Debra for saving this boy's life!
Kirby is doing great!! He came to us so happy and thankful that we sprung him from animal control! He celebrated with toys and kisses! He owes his life to Vivian, Sue, Faith and their family for sponsoring him. He has so much to be grateful for and to look forward to!
Harvey is safe!! Thanks to Deb for sponsoring him!! He doesn't look much different, but he feels great now!! Harvey mostly just needed to get rid of his worms and for us to fatten him up!! Linda, his foster mom is feeding him like a king. Harvey also is so much happier to be out of the animal control cage and in his foster home with a big back yard to exercise in!!
Molly was from animal control and not feeling well. She had an infection and kennel cough. She also had teeth that needed some attention. We have gotten her all the care she needs and she is doing GREAT. It took her a couple weeks to turn around but she's finally a healthy, happy girl. Thank you Sandy for rescuing this little lady!
Sebastian needed a hair cut and some training. He had some emotional issues that his foster mom is helping him with. He needs a special home that is quiet as he acts like a dog that has been hit so if you approach him with a large object in your hand, he is very afraid. That's ok, he'll get over that fear as he learns to trust. He's already showing us that he's going to be ok. Thank you Jennifer for saving him.
Daisy is safe with her foster mom. Her mom died so she and her sister Brandy were taken to animal control to wait for their relatives to come get them. The relatives didn't. Lucky for Daisy and Brandy, a kind stranger named Judy came to their rescue and sponsored them both. They are both safe with their PPR foster mom now and will be ready for a new home soon.
Brandy lost her mom, who died. The authorities took her and her sister Daisy to animal control and notified the next of kin. The next of kin didn't give a hoot about Brandy and Daisy but Judy did. She sponsored them both and PPR saved them. Brandy is safe with her foster mom now being loved.
Paxton is an older Poodle boy that is being loved to pieces by his foster mom Angelica. He came to us with kennel cough which quickly became pneumonia. He's recovering now and will be ready to have his teeth cleaned soon. Then the grande finale-- a loving home! Thank you Judy for letting us save this little old man!
Winnie was a mess! She needed some TLC and she's already getting it. Her medicated baths, conditioners and antibiotics will get her started. Whatever our vet determines she needs, she will get. Thank you Angelica for sponsoring this girl that nobody wanted. It's going to be a while before Winnie gets her hair back, but her foster family thinks she's gorgeous already!
Maggie is doing great! Tod sponsored her and now she is safe in our care. Maggie is learning housetraining skills and the difference between a toy and a shoe! She's all puppy and she's strong. She's keeping her foster family on their toes!
Paxton is chillin' with his foster mom and dad-- Angelica and Tom. They say he's a perfect little man and keeps them smiling with his antics. Paxton still needs to have his teeth cleaned, which our vets will do as soon as he's ready. For now his mission is to put on some weight and keep everyone laughing. Thank you Judy for saving this little munchkin!
Madeline is safe now thanks to Scot and Pamela. She has a growth we will remove and needs a dental. She is also very afraid. With these three strikes she was not adopted from animal control. We need to get her healthy enough for her surgery than our vets will make her well. Currently she's at home with her foster mom, eating treats and getting spoiled. She's not afraid anymore.
